I’m drifting somewhere right now.
My constant need to drift is why I find it difficult to work when someone asks me to do something and wants it right then. Whether it’s an idea or a physical manifestation of a previously decided upon idea. It’s not how my mind works. I have to fall away from my end product and return to it sporadically.
It’s actually how I focus. I think it’s how a lot of designers focus and it’s not anywhere close to ADD. I think everything that is done was pulled from everything else around you or everything in your head, which means we’ve explored it in that moment of the idea’s inception.
To me, it’s the same as holding fingers in front of your face and adjusting your eyes to see unfocused. You end up seeing more than what you did when you just tried to see what was in front of you and not what could be in front of you.
